In Baghdad
In Baghdad - Paul McGeough
This is a reporter's view of the 2003 Iraq War. It covers 30 days from the opening of hostilities till the reporter leaving Iraq after the official close of the war.
As expected from a professional journalist, the writing is very even handed and essentially limits itself to facts when reporting the war, with speculation being limited and certainly remaining free of the politics of the situation.
At the same time, it is a personal account. While the reports filed by McGeough are included in the book, there are plenty of anecdotes about himself, other reporters and the locals.
