Also a unique style (like Wim Wenders), he tells the story of a high school massacre (loosely based on Columbine), and the events leading up to it.

Big question raised: Did Gus Van Sant include the homosexual scene to 'deglamourise' it to high school students (who are well versed in the problems with being different).

Beautifully shot, the senese of space and lack of narrative make this a standout film.
