A March Into Madness

by John Feinstein

I'd read Feinstein's "A Season on the Brink" a few years ago and enjoyed the inside look at college basketball, so I had a vague idea of what to expect.  This book looks at the Atlantic Coast Conference, the most prestigious college basketball league in the US. Teams include Duke, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Marquette and stars to emerge from these schools include Michael Jordan, Stephon Marbury, Kenny Anderson and dozens of others.

The coaches are the stars of this scene. All have incredibly high profile, high stress jobs to perform. All are essentially dealing with teenagers who are amongst the best in the nation at basketball, but have varying success at other parts of life.

For basketball fans, a very enjoyable book about the ACC competition and the trials of college ball.
